Some interesting facts about Sumburgh Head

The trail...

This coastal trail leads from Jarlshof (ruins of a Viking settlement) to Sumburgh head, the southernmost tip of Shetland's mainland

The sheep...

A few among many grazing all over the island.

The lighthouse...

This lighthouse at Sumburgh Head was designed by RL Stevenson's grandfather, and it is said that the author got ideas for his novels Kidnapped and Treasure Island here!

The puffin(s)...

Colonies of puffins (also known as Tammie norries) migrate to the island and breed here in summer.
